Aid The Congo DRC is run by a team of volunteers who freely give their time and skills, to help our collective vision of providing safe access to healthcare for some of the world’s poorest. We are so grateful for every volunteer.
Leading the Team

Rev. Charles Ilunga
I’m a British Methodist Minister originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the civil war between 1998 and 2001, which claimed so many lives, my wife, our five children, and I were forced to flee our home.
We spent nearly ten years as refugees in Zambia, where we were granted asylum and eventually given the opportunity to rebuild our lives. In 2007, we arrived in the UK and were granted indefinite leave to remain.
Having experienced extreme hardship in the DRC, life in a refugee camp, and the opportunity to start again in the UK, I carry both the pain of the past and the hope of what is possible. Those experiences are what inspired the creation of Aid The Congo DRC.

George Barbrook
I have worked for over 30 years as a newspaperman for the Birmingham Post and Mail part of the Trinity Mirror Group of Newspapers, now known as ‘Reach’.
In later life, I returned to college and studied for a diploma in theology and apologetics where I met the Rev Charles Ilunga and helped edit and broadcast online Christian sound magazines for the blind and partially sighted.

Josee Ilunga
I’m a mother of five, originally from the DRC. I give my time and what I can to this charity because I’ve seen first-hand how much people in that part of the world suffer due to a lack of healthcare and basic facilities.
Pregnant women suffer in labour far too often. Children become seriously ill from infections that should be simple to treat. Health centres, if they exist at all, are poorly equipped and unable to provide the care families need.
I grew up in these conditions. As a mother, I’ve always carried a deep desire to do something that could make a difference. Through Aid The Congo DRC, I’m grateful to be part of creating real change for families who deserve better.

Emmanuel J.K Agyei
I am Ghanaian by birth and a chartered Management Accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants by profession.
I moved to London in 2011, where I worshipped at Cann Hall Methodist Church, Cann Hall Rd where with Rev. Charles Ilunga, the charity Aid The Congo DRC was formed. I am married with 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
